Scary In More Ways Than One...(Warning: There are Spoilers) September 24, 2007 Michelle Meyer (Las Vegas, Nevada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
...which is not necessarily a good thing in this case. I'm referring to what in my opinion is the biggest flaw of the game: backtracking. In the previous Clock Tower, getting around levels and finding items was not difficult. But here...it is absolutely horrifying. You have to run back and forth to make events happen and collect items (made worse due to the fact that certain times require either Bates or Alyssa)...which becomes annoying to the point you feel like taking that giant blade and stabbing the TV with it. Don't even get me started on how awfully irritating stage three was...Then there are the enemies and the plot. "Zombies" and a "virus" created by a pharmaceutical company...can anyone say "cheap, Resident Evil cash-in?" Sure there are some slight differences between this and the RE game, but making it similar in storyline was just a bad idea.
So what is good about this game? The music definitely adds a creepy feel to the game, and the click-and-point controls aren't shabby (though adding the gun-shooting parts was not a wise decision). The graphics, for some odd reason, make the game more scary, even though they aren't spectacular for a game of its time. If you are a Clock Tower fan and want to give this a try, go ahead. But just be forewarned, that you'll probably be disappointed.
Awesome-O game, you have to play it to like it! November 29, 2006 valdemar reyes (Central Coast, CA USA) I really loved this game. I bought clock tower, the first one, when it first came out ages ago, i still own it and play it randomly. The point and click was very annoying at first, because you didnt have great control over the character, however when you were being "attacked" it was great, because it made me feel frightened due to the fact that i lacked control plus the game went into a panic mode. This second game followed in its footsteps and i enjoyed just as much.
Very creepy! A must have for survival horror fans! January 2, 2005 anonymous 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game is up there with Resident Evil as far as creep factor! Yes, the graphics and play control leave a little to be desired, but the story more than makes up for it!
